“Katyangspaceship” comes from the word “kathang-isip”. “Katya” means pure, it is the name of an Immortal in Highlander: The Series. The “Spaceship” refers to fantasy …out of this world when you are out of your mind…a pigment of imagination or a realization?... sometimes mistakenly known as hallucination. Let’s explore both sides of the world…WELCOME ABOARD…

Are You Getting Involved…..

January 30, 2010

Guilty or not….you are involved…one fine day you learned that there are malicious issues buzzing around you…and you have to suffer the consequence?  Talking about integrity issues… Integrity means walking the talk when it comes to living one’s true values - being authentic….there’s no place for it in the principled workplace. Unfortunately, you were surprised that one of your friend is guilty in participating of spreading rumors which started innocently enough, but when they spun or created juicy stories, they quickly changed into rumors. Coincidence of all coincidences….the rumors has proven to have a touch of reality. Angers sparked….integrity issues were raised…nobody stood up to take all the blame. They have the power…. you have to accept the verdict…and you know nothing. The monetary rewards you are all expecting are gone…. with the wind.

And another ordinary day, you got yourself involved in another situation when it seems to be no way out. You met the Chef, he just walked accidentally (???) in your life. Driving a very luxurious car, half Chinese half Filipino. In a spun of 5 minutes, he laid his cards, letting you know what he do for a living, his family history and at the same time trying to establish the bond between you and him. You met again, and now with some cooks he is working with, introducing you as a new friend….then… you met again….they were trying to teach you the secret menu. You thought….there must be something wrong somewhere….you don’t want to be a cook so why they are revealing the secret of their menu….but you admitted that you were interested what would be he outcome of the said menu so you just listened and absorbed what they were offering.   You pretty much cooperated because out of nerve and curiosity. But after learning everything, you quickly understand why they say you grow up fast because you see and experience things, that the average person would never dream of, and not to mention the people you  have seen killed and locked up. So you decided to leave out quick And now its time for payback…they were demanding (not requesting)  for your own ingredients… you panicked and you flew with a prayer that they would not remember you again. You thought how much ingredients involved in that secret menu…they said it would be multiplied in 8 in 20 minutes….how fast and you were drowned in thinking about it…but…. would you take the bait and risk your principles?

Sometimes…..its better to know nothing than to know it all, it saves lives.  As my boss says, “pera pera lang yan at the end of the day”! But others may say that it really doesn’t mean anything.

Oh! Don’t You Like Them???

January 28, 2010

…..there’s a bitch even in the demurest girls

Dont get her wrong. She probably turn into one of those girls when she is wasted but hopefully not that bad and surely not that dumb. Whatever. She is all for having a good time.

She generally prefer people to be direct and express themselves honestly — but sometime, her intuitive powers are so strong that she might be able to read even those who are trying to hide their feelings from her.  Sometime, her sense of belonging is also crucial — so she make sure that she is surrounded by the right people! It’s a good idea for her to step up her efforts at collaboration in all aspects of her life.

Collections:

“Those are my principles. If you don’t like them I have others”

“Good friends will help you move. REALLY good friends will help you move bodies.”

“FOR ALL OF YOU WHO TALK ABOUT ME THANKS FOR MAKING ME THE CENTER OF YOUR WORLD!”

Fun Fun Fun

January 23, 2010

Last night I had fun going out with my friends.  We tried this new bar in front of our office (sorry, I can’t remember the name), whose part owner is one of the consultant of our company. I don’t know him actually.

We were seated on the 2nd floor veranda of the bar, and lightings are good and we got to enjoy our time under the stars and moonlight. No live band but the sounds are just right and crowd consisted mostly of employees within the area. Basically, it is a nice place. We had a couple of drinks, just San Mig Light. We could not drink heavily as our companions would be going home to Bulacan and Laguna afterwards. We immersed ourselves into a very, very, very light conversation (consisted mostly of just laughing). That was the first time I ate oyster…a fresh oyster with tomatoe juice (???) mixed with alcohol (I dunno about mixed drinks) and we had to drink it straight from the shot glass.  I listened to my gut and entertained the idea of eating (or drinking?) it. I particularly liked their baked oyster in a white cream cheese.

We had enough drinks and fun when we decided to go home. I was the last to be dropped when we encountered traffic problem on our way so we decided to just let it pass for awhile by eating in a Sinangag fastfood nearby. I still full so I just had soda and hot soup.  Thanks a lot to my companion who brought me home safely.

Just a few hours ago, my cousins were asking me to join them in a comedy bar but I refused. I felt that I had enough alcohol for the week.

Vacation Mode

January 19, 2010

I am still on vacation mode with my cousins who decided to visit some 2nd degree relatives North of Manila. And we were welcomed by the table full of foods and left the place with our bags full of anik aniks. We also visited the tomb of our grandparents at Himlayan and offered flowers, candles and prayers. At the end of the day we attended the mass in Quiapo and spent some fun time with manghuhula sitting in front of the church. I just listened with what he was saying and thought that it was really an opposite he was saying. He is very familiar with the zodiac signs so basically he is saying general characteristics of one person.

We had a trip again to Crosswinds Tagaytay to accompany the possible buyer of my cousin’s property. On our way back home, we ate again at Seafood Paluto. My cousin likes the Hitong Inihaw and Pinakbet there. Dropped by at fruit stands and bought mangosteen (my cousin told us that there is no such kind of fruit in the US).

What a grand time we had ….but not all the time are grand…Just the other day I found out that the metastatic lung cancer of my bestfriend is already on stage 4 which used to be Stage 2 a year ago. Bummer!! Hope she continue to be happy and strong as she claimed she is. She signed up for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and I hope she reach her pledge of US$ 2000.

Post Holidays!!!

January 16, 2010

I am ready for 2010 … and I pray to GOD to give success, happiness and progress to me, family, friends and well wishers; remove the sorrow and fill it with joy. Give good health and courage; make me strong to face everyday challenges.

The Holidays are over but I put a PAUSE on my work to relax and to spend time with my cousins. I had a great time with my cousin who already returned to Australia (Oh thanks a lot couz for the Rayban you gave me….need it badly)….and now I am in the middle of fun spending time with my other cousin from San Diego. We are supposed to have a trip to HK which was cancelled at the last minute due to her other commitment. Instead, she bought me to the malls and let me pick anything I want and paid for it. We went to Tagaytay to visit her rest house, had lunch at Seafood Paluto as if there is no tomorrow (while she is here, I am forgetting my diet— and I forgot I am not dieting). Spent the whole day at the beauty parlor to had our hair and foot spas. And I just got home from dinner at Seaside.

So I need to say that I had and I still having a wonderful time with my cousins and actually got some good work done too, to boot… I am off to write. Love you cousins.

Life Goes On

January 7, 2010

Somebody says “Life is a one way street. No matter how many roads you take, none of them will lead you back. So enjoy every moment of your life coz none of them will happen the same way again”.

I’m feeling pretty good about my social life right now — or at times I’m not, I know what to do about it. I feel that my energy is just right for making old friends feel good and making myself available for new people. I’m looking forward and excited for some fun activities scheduled next week with my cousins. I really hope it will materialize and in some way help me decide for my future.

I’ll be ending my night shift this week and I’ll be back to regular day shift next week. With the implementation of house rules, I dunno if I will enjoy working again in a spaceship. Some rules, which definitely legally questionable, would be beneficial and many are not. Well, as we say “If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen” But we are still part of the passengers and we have the voice to fight for our rights and privileges. Are you going to jump or just bring you where it would be heading????

My New Year 2010

January 3, 2010

After 3 years, I finally visited my hometown in the South to spend my New Year. I traveled with my folks with the prayer that we arrived home safe and sound and thanks God we did. Given with the consecutive sea tragedies occurred, it is kinda frightening  to be onboard of ships not to mention Roro’s. I was a little shock to learn that the recent was the same day that we traveled, Dec 26 and the same ship sometimes also traveled in our town.

Upon ariving home, another shock came to me was learning that a colleague and a friend passed away at a very young age due to complications. He was our Corr Commander during our high school days (I was an S4) and he was a good leader, a good friend (always depending us during our initiation rites) and a very generous person (..came from a well off family). Years ago, he used to call me whenever he was in Manila. I visited his wake on my 2nd day of stay there and I got to see also my batchmates, it was sort of reunion for us. Too bad, it had to be on that occasion.

On my third day, I spent the day with my family in a private resort (it became very private that we were the only guests that day…probably since it was still weekday that’s why others could not find time yet to go out ). We just had barbeque, pizza, coke and chips. The kids enjoyed the pool, my folks enjoyed the videoke, my sister and I had a time dancing before joining the kids.

On my fourth day, I visited the tomb of my relatives (I wasn’t able to visit it on All Saints Day). Also visited one sick cousin (she has been bed ridden for more than 10 years) and pay respect to some of my widowed Tita’s.  It was the day that my siblings were supposed to arrived from Manila but due to limited trips, they were scheduled the next day. They decided instead not to pushed through with the trip and just spent the New Year at Manila.

On my fifth day, I visited and delivered gifts to some close friends and “inaanaks”. On my sixth day, I helped in the bakery of my sister and prepared some foods for the media noche. And at 9:00pm, we attended the New Year’s mass. It was not a very noisy New Year as the mobile patrol followed by the ire brigade kept on roaming around reminding not to use dangerous firecrackers. We just had a good time blowing our “Torotot”, lighting the “Luises” and a Jumbo Fountain at 12 midnight.

On New Year’s day, we just stayed home and entertained visitors.

I was supposed to be back to Manila the following day but we learned that coastguard are implementing very strict measures on the capacity of the ship’s passengers, so instead I decided to make the trip today Jan 3 with some of my cousins through door to door van. I woke up 3am and the van picked me up at 4am, the trip is supposed to be 6am but unfortunately, due to many passengers leaving at the same day, we were booked on the 10am trip and we arrived in Manila at 3pm. Thanks God again for the safe trip.

A Happy and Prosperous New Year To All !!!
