Circa 90
February 7, 2011Its now February, and another set of activities coming up. Just yesterday, I attended a reunion with my friends and former officemates in my previous company. It was organized by the generous group, thanks a lot guys for a very successul event. They connected us through text, call, email, chat, social networks, you name it, they did it. Thanks also to our previous bosses and those working abroad who shouldered part of the event’s expenses. All of us were so excited even before the actual event.
The day of the getaway came, from more than 30 who confirmed their attendance, 71 showed up. Imagine that, isnt that fabulous!!? It was fun though, we were ecstatic to see again those people especially those who we’ve been really close with but we dont get to see often, whom we’ve learned to treasure and really loved as friends. Of course, many of us keep on communicating and keeping in touch with each other but its not the same seeing each other personally.
We occupied the whole venue and it seemed like a good day/night. We heard the music blaring and people shuffling around chatting with each other. As soon as we entered, we saw familiar faces coming towards us saying like “Oh….my God! I haven’t seen you in like- forever! Good to see you, how are you doing girl!!!” and they all started to kiss and hug us. For some, even the ones who used to despise them (just a few), greeted them warmly.
It all brought back the memories of those times when we were all together working in the same company. Many were already married and have kids, others went out of the country for greener pasteur, some are doing the same profession and few are still single like me. We are already planning to make it a yearly reunion, a get-together, so that we could see each other again and update ourselves with the goings-on of each of our lives.
We spent the whole time reminiscing the old times, catching up with each other lives, singing, dancing, eating and just chatting. It started 12noon and ended 10pm.
It was memorable times of our lives when we were in the same company…the bonding and friendships were different, sabi nga there were always reasons to celebrate or go out during those times…. like magkasakit lang ang alagang aso ng isang kaibigan or naipagbili ang isang manok, lalabas na at mag iinuman, ganun kababaw pero ganun din kalalim ang pinagsamahan. During those inumans, there was one ritual that you need to pass…..the 1, 2 and 3 ritual among the guys and sometimes even the girls…it means you have to enumerate who among the girls or guys of the company you like most and there were several couples who found (and few avoided) their destiny and partners in life through that bonding moments.
We could say that one main reason that we are happy to keep in touch with each other is that our foundation of friendships were solid. It strengthen and build our healthier and stronger relationships with one another. We found friends there whom we know always there to help and whom we know we can have lasting and exciting relationship. Having said this, Thanks guys, nice to see you all again after all those years. As one of our previous boss says, we touched part of each other lives if not our whole lives.
Hope to see you all and more again next year.
